Quick answer

UK ENIC (run by Ecctis) compares your Indian qualification to UK levels; the Statement of Comparability costs £69.60 (≈ ₹7,900) and takes about 15 working days. Attestation makes your Indian certificates legally acceptable abroad: an apostille (₹50 MEA fee plus ₹84 agency charge per document) for Hague Convention countries, or MEA plus embassy attestation for the Gulf. Travel insurance for a Schengen visa must give at least €30,000 medical cover for your whole stay; we issue policies the same day. For all three, Visa Xpert’s own charge is quoted before you pay.

What to bring for each service

Clear scans are enough to start; originals are needed only for attestation.

UK ENIC Statement of Comparability

  • Final degree or diploma certificate (scan).
  • Mark sheets or transcripts for every year of the course.
  • Passport copy, and your name exactly as UK ENIC should print it.
  • English translations if any document is in another language (UK ENIC offers a translation waiver service for some documents).
  • An email address for your UK ENIC account.

Attestation or apostille

  • The original certificate: degree, mark sheets, marriage or birth certificate, or PCC.
  • Passport copy of the certificate holder.
  • The destination country and purpose (work visa, family visa, study), which decides apostille or embassy route.
  • For educational certificates: university name and year, so we can plan state authentication.
  • Authorisation letter if someone else is submitting on your behalf.

Travel insurance

  • Passport copy of each traveller.
  • Exact travel dates and the countries you will visit.
  • Age of each traveller and any existing medical conditions.
  • The embassy or visa you are applying for, so the certificate wording matches its rule.

Good to know

  • UK ENIC does not post originals back; keep your originals and upload scans.
  • Attestation stamps are placed on the original certificate or a laminated copy depending on the authority; never laminate an original before attestation.
  • Cancel or change insurance dates before departure, not after; most insurers will not amend a policy once the trip has started.

How Visa Xpert helps

We are an independent consultancy in Kochi, in business since 2015. We are not UK ENIC, the Ministry of External Affairs, an embassy or an insurance company; they issue the documents, and we make sure you ask the right one for the right thing.

What we do for you

  • Tell you honestly whether you need a UK ENIC statement at all, and which UK ENIC service your employer, university or visa actually asks for.
  • Plan the attestation route for your destination country so the document is not stamped by the wrong office.
  • Handle Kerala-specific steps such as Norka Roots or Higher Education Department authentication.
  • Match your insurance to the embassy rule (for example €30,000 Schengen cover) so VFS does not reject the certificate.
  • Combine everything with your visa file: one timeline, one checklist.

2026 notes to know

  • UK ENIC fee: the standard Statement of Comparability now costs £69.60 and takes about 15 working days; allow for this when planning a UK job start date.
  • Apostille: MEA no longer accepts documents directly from the public; everything goes through the authorised agencies (BLS International, Superb Enterprises, IVS Global, Alhind), which is why the ₹84 agency charge applies.
  • Schengen insurance: the €30,000 minimum must cover every day of the visa, not just your flight dates.
  • Gulf attestation: after the Indian embassy stamp, the certificate still needs MOFA attestation in the destination country; we can arrange that for the UAE through our PCC and attestation partners.

UK ENIC, attestation and insurance: frequently asked questions

What is UK ENIC and do I need a Statement of Comparability?

UK ENIC is the UK’s official agency for recognising international qualifications. Its Statement of Comparability says which UK level your Indian degree compares to. You need it when a UK employer, university or professional body asks for it; for the Home Office English-language requirement on visas, UK ENIC has a separate Visa and Nationality service.

How much does UK ENIC cost and how long does it take?

The Statement of Comparability costs £69.60 (about ₹7,900) and takes around 15 working days once UK ENIC has your documents. Fast Track costs £223.20 for 2 working days or £284.40 for 1 working day. Visa Xpert’s charge for preparing and filing is quoted separately.

What is the difference between apostille and attestation?

An apostille is a single MEA sticker accepted by Hague Convention countries such as most of Europe, Australia and Japan. Gulf countries are not in the convention, so they need MEA attestation followed by attestation at their embassy in India and MOFA in the destination country.

How much does attestation cost in India?

The MEA charges ₹50 per document for an apostille and nothing for normal attestation; the authorised collection agency charges ₹84 per document plus ₹3 per page. State authentication and embassy fees vary by document and country. Ask us for a written quote that includes our charge.

How long does certificate attestation take from Kerala?

An apostille usually takes 1–2 weeks including state-level authentication. Gulf embassy attestation usually takes 2–3 weeks, plus MOFA attestation after the document reaches the destination country.

Which travel insurance is accepted for a Schengen visa?

A policy with at least €30,000 medical cover, valid in all Schengen countries for every day of your stay, from a recognised insurer. We issue compliant policies the same day and include the certificate in your VFS file.

Can I get travel insurance for a UK, Turkey or Russia trip through Visa Xpert?

Yes. Insurance is not compulsory for every visa, but embassies expect it and border officers can ask for it. We arrange policies for any destination along with your visa.

Does Visa Xpert publish fixed charges for these services?

Not yet. UK ENIC, attestation and insurance costs depend on the documents, country and cover, so we quote in writing before you pay. Official fees are listed above and are paid separately.
