Application & passport
- Application form completed and signed (both parents for minors); your email address in column 17 (or a relative's/agent's), otherwise the application can be refused
- Two colour photos, 3.5 × 4.5 cm, white background
- Passport valid at least 3 months beyond your stay, issued in the last 10 years, 2 blank pages; copies of front and back pages
- Copies of old Schengen and other visas, and copies of old passports
Trip documents
- Original travel agency certificate for a prepaid tour, or an accommodation reservation with a deposit paid or a cancellation fee
- Travel dates and return flight reservation
- Travel medical insurance: at least €30,000, all Schengen countries, including arrival and departure days
Proof of funds (originals, signed and stamped)
- Employed: original employment certificate granting leave and salary slips for the last 3 months
- Student: enrolment certificate granting leave (if travelling in term time); sponsor's salary slips and bank statements
- Pensioner: pension slips for the last 3 months
- Self-employed: certificate of registration
- Original bank statements for the last 3 months
- ITR with barcode (the Mumbai checklist asks for 3 years; the VFS page lists the last 2 assessment years)
Residence proof
- Proof that you have lived in the Mumbai consulate's area for at least 6 months, e.g. rental agreement, electricity bills, bank statements or salary slips covering the last 6 months
Minors
- Both parents sign the form
- Travelling with one parent: notarised consent of the other parent (or court order / proof of sole custody)
- Travelling alone: notarised consent of both parents or guardians
- Copies of both parents' passports or ID cards (with photo and signature)
Good to know
- Anyone submitting on your behalf needs your authorisation signed and certified by a public notary.
- If your earlier fingerprints are older than 59 months or of poor quality, you may have to go to the Consulate in Mumbai for new biometrics.
